In Part 3 of our series "Family Chat," a series on Christian Parenting, Pastor Doug focuses on the nature and necessity of discipline. In this biblically based view of discipline, we understand that God’s grace covers our sins and discipline driven by love, is a key way God teaches us to live according to His standards.
The sermon draws parallels between God's discipline and parental discipline. Just as God disciplines His children out of love to guide them toward holiness, parents must discipline their children to teach them right from wrong. Discipline should be consistent and done for the child's benefit, not out of anger or frustration. This message highlights three types of undisciplined parenting to avoid: lifeguard parents who rescue their children from all consequences, Etch-a-Sketch parents who are inconsistent, and split-decision parents who are ununified in their approach.
Join us as we understand the ultimate goal of discipline is to guide children to be self-disciplined and to develop a loving, obedient relationship with God.

In the second in our series "Family Chat," we hear from our Student Ministry Director, Skylar Jones.
Join us as he dives into three principles from Jesus about children and parenting. First, Jesus embraced children, teaching us to do the same.Second, Jesus engaged with children. Lastly, Jesus encouraged children, lifting them up as examples.
Skylar reminds us that to parent well, we must address our own upbringing, nurture healthy marriages, and go all-in on parenting. Mistakes will happen, but God's grace is abundant. Embrace, engage, and encourage—these principles are key to nurturing godly children.

Join us for "Family Chat," our new series where we tackle the highs and lows of family life with humor, honesty, and biblical wisdom. Pastor Paul shares insights and challenges for parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles alike.
We all have family—some moments we cherish, others we'd rather forget. But regardless of our experiences, one thing remains true: family shapes us.
In this series, we confront the age-old desire to do things differently than our parents did. We've all said it: "When I grow up, I'm doing it differently." But how's that working out? Are we truly making progress, or are we falling into the same patterns?
The core principle we explore is this: as parents, our priority is to gradually shift our children's dependence away from us and onto God. It's not about being perfect; it's about leading by example. And it starts with loving God wholeheartedly and living a life that reflects that love.
Throughout the series, we delve into practical steps for raising children who walk with Jesus. We'll emphasize the importance of leading intentionally, because if we don't, someone else will fill the gap.
Let's learn, grow, and navigate the complexities of family life together, all while keeping our eyes fixed on the ultimate goal: raising children who are fully dependent on God.
